FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to have a skippers ticket/ boat license?

Yes, you do. We operate different to others, in that we let you rent the ski and venture out on your own (without a guide). The benefit of this is you have much more freedom and can spend your day on the water in a way which suits you.

Where can I obtain a skippers ticket/ boat license from?

A quick google search should bring up a stack of providers. They are generally straight forward and involve some online theory followed by a practical assessment.

I've lost (or cannot find) my recreational skippers ticket (RST). Can I still hire a jet ski?

Yes, but you will need to login into DotDirect and provide us with a screenshot of your details (under the "Marine" tab). This will also need to be shown upon collection. We do recommend ordering a replacement card, so you do have a physical copy.

What time can I collect the jet ski and what time does it need to be returned?

You can collect your jet ski and equipment between the hours of 8am and 10am on your hired day. It must be returned by 5pm.

Do you have an early pick-up/ late drop-off option?

We get it - Sunset and sunrise times are phenomenal (or you may have plans for a weekend away). We've listened to our customers and as of November 2023 we are now offering early pick-up and late drop off. For an extra $100 you can either collect the night before OR drop off after 1700 (provided the hired equipment is returned to us before 8PM). Plenty more flexibility for you to enjoy yourself on the water. Please contact us directly if you want this as an option.

My hire period falls on or during a public holiday. Are there extra fees/costs with this?

Yes there is, there will be an extra flat fee of $100. To determine if your hire period is on a public holiday please visit commerce.wa.gov.au

I have my own vehicle suitable for towing. Can I personally pick up and drop of the jet ski?

Yes you can. You must be competent in towing a trailer and also be comfortable in loading/unloading the jet ski at the boat ramp.

As Thrills & Chills has your safety at the forefront, we have made a couple of videos to assist when at the boat ramp. They can be viewed here:

I would like for Thrills & Chills to deliver and collect the hired equipment. What are the costs?

You might be on holidays or don't have a suitable vehicle for towing, or your own transportation is in the workshop. Not to worry, provided we have a representative free to help, then we are happy to do delivery and collection. However, there is an extra fee associated with this (detailed below). Please note, that travel times are calculated from Mandurah Forum, 330 Pinjarra Rd, Mandurah.

Again, delivery/collection is only available if we have staff available to help on the day, so please contact us directly if electing this an option.

Zone 2. Extra $120 (all-inclusive fee) - greater than 20 minutes drive from Mandurah** but less than 40

If you have chosen this as a service, please be aware that Thrills & Chills will need to refuel the jet ski. In this instance, we'll subtract the cost of fuel from the bond, and provide you with a receipt.

If I book for two-day hire, do I need to clean the ski overnight?

Yes! Treat the ski as if it were your own. Remember you are entirely responsible for any hired equipment during your hire period. Our full terms and conditions can be viewed here: Terms and Conditions: Jet Ski Hire Agreement

Can I go to Rottnest?

Not at present. With our hire service you are only permitted to travel 400m from the mainland (there is still plenty of fun to be had in the waters closer to home). We know the laws around jet ski's in unprotected waters have recently changed, and in response to this we are currently reviewing our operations. We need to carefully consider the risks and hazards before we make any changes - Your safety is our highest priority.

Check back in regularly to see any updates or follow us on Instagram/Facebook.

I've damaged the ski, am stuck, or have crashed! What happens next?

Firstly, the well-being and safety of everyone is of utmost priority. Equipment can be replaced, but lives cannot. Immediately ensure anyone involved is safe and well, and if needed - Call Emergency Services (000).

If you're riding responsibly and within your capabilities, then you should be fine. However, we understand unplanned incidents/events do occur. Should an accident happen, inform us immediately and we will assist where possible. Do remember (and as a part of the rental agreement), renters are responsible for any damages (accident, negligence, or otherwise). Renters are also responsible for any costs associated with returning the ski back to Thrills & Chills. Our full terms and conditions can be viewed here: Terms and Conditions: Jet Ski Hire Agreement

I'm not sure what to do or where to go during my jet ski hire?

When you hire from us, the choice is yours as to how you want your day to unfold.

You can make the family day at the foreshore truly unforgettable by adding a jet ski with some towables. Or you can set out on a journey and explore the estuary - take brunch and pull up on one of the many unoccupied shores.

The important thing is that you have fun! (and of course, remain safe and well).
